Software Performance Developer (Java) Job Opening In Dublin – Now Hiring IBM

**Introduction**
The IBM Application Services performance engineering team is looking for a Software Performance Developer professional.

In this role, you will be part of a global team of engineers focusing on performance and scale for Red Hat product portfolio under Application Services.

As a performance engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead the development and maintenance of the performance lab and its services.

You will also be asked to further develop and maintain the tooling needed for the lab and for the test automation.

In this role you'll be part of one of the best teams specializing in Java Virtual Machine performance in the world.

You’ll interact frequently with other engineering teams and open source communities, use modern cloud technologies and cutting edge methodologies to profile, analyze and review our product portfolio to ensure we have the best performance possible.
**Your role and responsibilities**
Performance Engineer, you will work in an agile, collaborative environment to assist in improving the performance and scalability of our product portfolio.

In this role, you work directly with many different teams assisting them with finding solutions to performance issues, help analyzing profiling data and working with the team to define best practices and methodologies for performance.

You will also be assisting in improving our tooling which we rely on for automation and regression analysis.

Your primary responsibilities include:

Collaboration: Work collaboratively within a team responsible for shaping the architecture and technical trajectory of our Java Performance methodologies and tooling

Cross-Functional Troubleshooting: Collaborate with engineering teams to provide initial assessments and possible workarounds for production issues.

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively.

Profiling and Analysis: Profile application and review the output from logs and make methodical recommendations for performance improvements

Proven Java Performance Expertise: Showcase a deep understanding and expertise in Java Virtual Machine Performance, coupled with a proven experience with performance methodologies and tooling

Proven Generic Performance Expertise: Showcase a deep understanding and expertise in performance testing on Linux, bare-metal and containers.
*

Strategic Collaboration with Product Engineering: Bring a wealth of experience in working closely with engineering teams, actively contributing to the strategic direction and shaping of performance tooling and services supporting these teams
*

Linux Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
*

Operation and Support Experience: Demonstrated experience in handling day-to-day operations, alert management, incident support, migration tasks, and break-fix support.

Proficiency in Modern CPU architectures: Possess a solid understanding of modern CPUs, with a specific emphasis on performance and scalability

Expertise in Linux Environment: Demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in working within Linux environments, illustrating a keen understanding of its intricacies and optimal configurations.

Containerization and Orchestration Mastery: Showcase proficiency in containerization with Docker, Podman and orchestration using Openshift/Kubernetes, highlighting the ability to design and manage scalable and efficient application deployments.

Java: All internal tooling is written in Java.

The position will need to troubleshoot, fix and improve this tooling over time
