The Power BI Developer Leader is responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of advanced business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI.

This role combines technical expertise in data modelling and visualisation with leadership skills to guide a team of BI developers, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will possess deep experience in Power BI, data integration, and analytics, as well as the ability to mentor and inspire a

team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Power BI developers, providing technical guidance and

  • fostering professional growth

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand data

  • needs, and translate business objectives into actionable BI solutions.

  • Design, develop, deploy and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data

  • models using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.

  • Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL, Excel, cloud platforms, APIs, ADO) and

  • ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.

  • Optimize performance of BI solutions, including data models, DAX queries, and

  • report rendering for scalability and responsiveness.

  • Establish and enforce best practices for data visualization, report design, and

  • documentation within the BI team.

  • Provide end-user training and support, troubleshooting issues and ensuring

  • adoption of BI solutions across the organization.

  • Stay current with Power BI features and industry trends, proactively

  • recommending enhancements and new capabilities.

  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards

  • Skills and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or

  • related field.

  • 10 years of relevant work experience with 5 years experience in Power BI

  • development, including dashboard/report creation, DAX, and Power Query.

  • Proven experience leading BI or analytics teams.

  • Strong proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and integrating data from

  • diverse sources.

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Excel, and other data management tools.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with both

  • technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with Power BI Service, Power BI Report Server, and deployment best

  • practices.

    Data Bricks experience preferred but not required.

  • Experience in large-scale data environments and enterprise data architecture

  • Experience with financial data and reporting, and ADO reporting

  • Power BI certification or equivalent is preferred
