<p><strong>Vacancy- Orientation and Mobility Instructor as part of Low Vision Team</strong></p>
<p><strong>Salary Scale: €42,715-59,971, based on experience</strong></p>
<p><strong>Annual Leave: 30 days</strong></p>
<p><strong>Location: On site Drumcondra Campus, 5 days a week</strong></p>

<p><strong>Summary:</strong></p>
<p>To empower children with visual impairment to move safely, confidently, and independently in their environments (home, school, community).
The Orientation & Mobility Instructor will provide assessment, direct instruction, consultation, and support, tailoring services across the developmental spectrum from infancy through young adulthood.</p>
<p></p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p></p>
<p>Assessment & Planning</p>
<ul>
<li>Conduct initial and ongoing       assessments of orientation and mobility needs & capabilities for       children on campus and additionally as part of our national remit.</li>
</ul>
<p>Instruction & Intervention</p>
<ul>
<li>Teach orientation and mobility       skills appropriate to age & developmental stage, e.g.       spatial/environmental concepts, body awareness, travel cognition,       low-vision efficiency, cane skills, pre-cane skills, etc.</li>
<li>Provide instruction in both       familiar and unfamiliar environments: indoors, in school settings,       community settings, outdoors.</li>
<li>Train in the use of adaptive       mobility devices and travel aids (e.g. long cane, human guide techniques,       tactile maps, GPS / technology aids).</li>
<li>Teach safe street crossing,       public transportation use, environmental awareness, handling steps,       curbs, obstacles, etc.</li>
</ul>
<p>Collaboration & Consultation</p>
<ul>
<li>Work closely with the Low       Vision Team and wider Clinical team in ChildVision.</li>
<li>Collaborate with families /       caregivers to reinforce mobility skills outside of direct sessions.</li>
<li>Advise schools, local       authorities, community organisations on environmental modifications,       accessibility, safe routes, etc.</li>
</ul>
<p>Progress Monitoring & Reporting</p>
<ul>
<li>Maintain accurate records of       sessions, assessment findings, progress toward goals using ChildVision’s       CRM system</li>
<li>Review and revise plans as       needed.</li>
<li>Provide monthly KPI data</li>
</ul>
<p>Professional Development & Advocacy</p>
<ul>
<li>Stay up-to-date with the       latest best practices, research, technological aids, etc.</li>
<li>Advocate for greater       accessibility, safety, and inclusion in community environments (e.g.       transport, built environment).</li>
</ul>
<p>Other Duties</p>
<ul>
<li>Travel to various locations       (home, school, community).</li>
<li>May supervise assistants,       volunteers, or interns.</li>
<li>Provide trainings / workshops       to parents, school staff, sighted peers as needed.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>3rd level Qualification in       health, education or social care sectors.</li>
<li>Experience working with       children with disabilities</li>
<li>Fluent English-verbal and       written</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desirable</strong></p>
<p>· Fully qualified Orientation and Mobility Instructor</p>
<p>· Experience working with children with a visual impairment</p>
<p>· Engaged in additional study specific to visual impairment</p>

<p><strong><em>NB: Garda vetting and full reference checks will apply in respect of successful candidates.
A police clearance may also be required from any jurisdiction where the candidate has lived abroad for any period greater than 6 months.</em></strong></p>
