eir evo talent are currently seeking applicants for a Linux Systems Engineer.
This is a fixed term contract (12 month duration) position located with our client in Dublin 8.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week in the office (Monday, Tuesday and Friday).
Role Purpose and Context
Our client is looking is progressing a new initiative to migrate computing workloads to a flexible open-source platform based on Openstack & Kubernetes.
As a result, a role is available for a Systems Engineer with Linux experience to assist in the design, development, and maintenance of this platform.
The Systems Engineer will work collaboratively with internal teams through development, deployment, and operation of new microservice-based services, as well as the migration of other services compatible with the platform.
You will also be part of the team responsible for continuing design, development, and maintenance of the environment itself.
The ideal candidate should have a broad range of hands-on technical skills with strong design and implementation skills, and at least one successfully completed design/build project.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day management of the infrastructure stackHardware specification and maintenanceEnsuring that existing software and services are updated and patched as requiredHelp improve our metrics and logs gathering capabilitiesDocument and refine internal policies and proceduresAutomate as many policies and procedures as possibleWorking with development and network teams to troubleshoot issues.Some on-call duties as required
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
Three years or more experience with Linux/Unix AdministrationThree years or more experience with scripting languages such as Python or BashStrong Experience with OVirt from a virtualisation owner/provider perspectiveStrong Experience with Gluster from a storage owner/provider perspectiveStrong Experience with debugging hardware issuesStrong NetworkingOne years or more experience with version control technologies such as Git or SVNStrong communication skills: verbal and/or writtenExperience building and operating online services and
fault-tolerant distributed systemsFamiliarity with a wide range of open-source technologiesSolid analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilitiesKnowledge of best practices and IT operations in a public-facing always-available environmentFamiliarity with Networked and Software defined storage technologies — NFS, RAID, Ceph
Desired Skills
