Bord Gáis Energy is recruiting an expert Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (EI&C) Lead Engineer to lead the technical delivery of major energy infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK.

This is a key role in our multi-billion euro asset development strategy, covering all phases from concept through commissioning.

About the role:

  • Provide technical leadership across EI&C design, construction, commissioning, and operations.

  • Drive project success by working across functions and stakeholders including EPC contractors, regulators, TSO/DSOs, OEMs, and local authorities.

  • Manage complex, high-hazard energy sites, including high-voltage and hydrocarbon systems.

  • Lead design reviews, technical approvals, and contractor oversight to ensure safety, quality and code compliance (IEC, IEEE, IET).

  • Support site feasibility assessments, grid code compliance, and technical input into commercial evaluations.

  • Oversee contracts and contribute to project controls, risk analysis, and scheduling (FIDIC, NEC experience ideal).

  • Here's what we're looking for:

  • Vast EI&C experience in capital asset projects (greenfield or brownfield).

  • Deep technical knowledge of EI&C systems for power, energy, or process plant environments.

  • Strong understanding of grid code requirements and electrical systems in thermal, solar, and flexible demand projects.

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) preferred.

  • Experience across disciplines, with ability to collaborate and challenge constructively across engineering interfaces.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Data-driven decision-maker, confident in chairing meetings and producing clear, actionable insights.
